Technologies that can save the environment

Technologies that can save the environment

Dear reader,

Do you remember the time before Facebook, or Instagram or Twitter?

Not so much? Well, neither do I.

Can you imagine a better future than the present one? One where you can do more than just pop up in your neighbor's house in your flying car?

"In truth, the importance of technology is nothing new, it is an old, old story." - Gary Hoover

Technology, has transcended beyond just 'the better way of doing things' into something more along the lines of 'A Nightmare in Silicon Valley' story.

But, "The planet is in jeopardy!" is a statement that has become a second language, so much that virtually all we know is the problem and not the solution. Yes, these are perilous times, but within them lay the greatest opportunities.

"Every student graduating college (or still in school) feels some sort of uncertainty, regardless of their major: will I find a job? Should I move to a big city? What kind of cash inflow would I be happy with? But the fact remains that tech graduates have a huge advantage, which comes down to the tech skills gap." - culled from Understanding the tech skills gap by Irina.

I've got  technologies that can open you up to a world where you can handle and create change. The last one is perhaps the most resilient of them all.

Artificial intelligence and the environment

AI, a lot of people say, is the way. The way to more possibilities. And it's proving to be very true in the environmental sector. One very amazing approach is Microsoft using AI to help save the earth through so many mediums, such as grants, APIs, land cover mapping, camera trap image processing, species classification and so much more!
It's become so easy that if one is inclined to participate - whether through a business or for voluntary uses - in building a sustainable environment, one can apply for grants or conduct researches with their help. And Microsoft is not the only one doing that. Shell and United Utilities are big game players as well.

Now, there's so much more, but we'll drown it down with this video.

In our next post, we'll be taking a giant leap to see how we can use environmental technologies as opportunities in whatever sector we find ourselves in.
